An ancient tool of meditation, the labyrinth, is coming to Accotink Unitarian Universalist Church in Burke on Aug. 3. The Sunday morning service at 10 a.m. will focus on the origins and use of the labyrinth. The guest speaker will be Dexter Fox, a member of Trinity Episcopal Church of Manassas. He has been a part of Trinity's Labyrinth Support Team since the church acquired one in 1999. All are invited to return to the Accotink sanctuary that day, from 6:30-9 p.m. to walk the labyrinth. This year's Accotink Unitarian Universalist Church's summer trip will be to Asheville, N.C., and the Biltmore Mansion and Estate. Participants will leave from Springfield Mall aboard a motor coach on the morning of Thursday, Aug. 21, and will return the evening of Sunday, Aug. 24. Events include a tour of the Biltmore Mansion, a tour and tasting at an Asheville winery, a luncheon at the Deerpark Cafe on the estate, as well as a guided tour of historic Asheville and a trip to the Folk Art Center on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The trip includes three nights at a new Country Inn and Suites Hotel, three breakfasts, two dinners, lunch at the Biltmore, all tour fees, transportation and gratuities at a price of $468 per person, based on double occupancy.
