It's on to the Planning Commission for Kustom Kastles. It got a thumbs-up, last week, from the West Fairfax County Citizens Association (WFCCA) Land-Use Committee.
The developer wants to construct five, single-family, detached homes near the intersection of Veronica Road and Fenbrook Drive, next to the Fair Lakes Chase subdivision. But it first needs the county's permission to have 2.6 acres rezoned from their current designation of one home per acre to two homes per acre in a cluster arrangement.
The houses would constitute an infill development within an already-existing residential area and would be incorporated into the Fair Lakes Chase homeowners association. And the developer will make a contribution to Rocky Run Middle School because that's the school the new community's residents will attend. Kustom Kastles has also proffered a $4,000 donation to the county Park Authority.
The WFCCA endorsed the rezoning proposal at its Aug. 19 meeting. It also relayed a request of another community near where the new homes would be built. Explained WFCCA Chairman Jim Katcham: "Cabell's Mill wanted construction traffic [for the project] to access the site via Stringfellow Road, rather than Walney Road, and the developer agreed to that." The matter goes before the Planning Commission on Sept. 10.
