The three felony charges against a Chantilly man accused of raping a woman at knifepoint, June 25, in her Chantilly home, have been sent to the Fairfax County grand jury.
The man charged with the crimes is Eric Alfonso Hernandez (AKA Hugo Rene Lopez), 39, of 4004 Kimberly Glen Court. He and the alleged victim, 32, knew each other from a prior relationship.
According to a court document written by county police Det. Sean Perkins, Hernandez went to the woman's home, around 7:30 p.m., and they began to argue. A struggle ensued and then, wrote Perkins, Hernandez reportedly held a utility knife against the woman's throat.
The detective wrote that, after Hernandez allegedly forced her to engage in oral sex with him, he allegedly raped her. Perkins noted that the victim said she'd "scratched Hernandez on his chest and neck during the assault." He wrote that, when police arrested the Chantilly man, June 26 around 1 a.m., the arresting officer reportedly observed scratches on Hernandez' upper chest and neck.
Police charged him with rape, forcible sodomy and abduction with the intent to defile. Rape and forcible sodomy are each punishable by a maximum of life in prison. Hernandez appeared last Friday, Aug. 22, in Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court and, at that time, all three charges against him were certified to the next grand jury for possible indictment.
