Charles B. Gibson Jr. of Bankers Insurance in Fairfax was installed to the board of directors of the Virginia Financial Services Corp., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Independent Insurance Agents of Virginia (IIAV) for the 2003-04 fiscal year. Gibson has served on the board of the IIAV and on many of the committees throughout his career.
Charles F. Bullington of McLean/Academy Commercial Insurance of McLean was installed as president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Virginia for the 2003-04 fiscal year. Bullington began his career in insurance in 1966 in life sales, then moved to property and casualty in 1970 with INA/CIGNA. He became an agent in 1980 and joined the McLean Agency in 1988.

PRA International of McLean has been experiencing continued success in its ability to conduct oncology clinical trials for its clients worldwide. The Craftmark Group was ranked 48 out of 100 on the list of the largest privately held companies in the Washington metropolitan area. The annual revenue for 2002 totaled $247 million. The McLean-based home builder, consisting of Craftstar and Craftmark Homes, was the top residential home builder to be featured on the list. The list of largest private companies is published annually by the Washington Business Journal and focuses solely on businesses in the Washington metropolitan area.
Golfdom has joined forces with the National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society to take part in the Freddie Mac Longest Day of Golf. Throughout the months of September and October, area golfers have the opportunity to play golf all day free at 42 local sponsoring host courses. The golf clubs donate the green fees while participants commit to raising money to help people affected by multiple sclerosis. When anyone registers for Golfdom’s Very Important Golfer (VIG) program, $20 of his $25 VIG initiation fee will be donated to the National MS Society. Additionally, Longest Day of Golf participants who reach certain fund-raising levels will earn Golfdom gift certificates ranging from $25 to $350. Sept. 4-7 – The Vienna-Tysons Regional Chamber of Commerce invites the public to enjoy the fun and excitement of a carnival for the whole family. The carnival is an opportunity for all ages to enjoy an outing together, with children’s rides and games plus grown-up thrills.
Oct. 29 – The 57th annual Vienna Halloween Parade. Participants will have the opportunity to salute local volunteerism with the theme “Celebrate Our Volunteers: 100 Years of the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department.” Former Chiefs from the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department will serve as Grand Marshals. Volunteers are needed to help with organization, crowd control and constructing a Chamber float. Anyone interested in helping or in serving on the committee should contact the Chamber office.
