Deborah L. Hotop of Edinburgh Drive in Springfield received a bachelor of science degree in meteorology during the May 17 commencement ceremonies at Millersville University of Pennsylvania.

Willard Smith of Springfield graduated from Ithaca College with a bachelor of science degree in physical education with teacher certification.

Springfield residents Ramin Bajoghli, Nicele B. Erjavec and Rachael A. Kaplan have recently been named to the dean's list at Boston University for the spring semester.

Brian N. Coates of Springfield has been named to the dean’s list at Belmont University of Nashville, Tenn., for the spring semester. He is the son of Hammond and Connie Coates of Springfield and is a 2002 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School. To be named to the dean’s list a student must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

Kanchan K. Daswani of Springfield received a degree in business administration and management from Boston University this spring.

Brian Hang of Springfield received a doctorate in medicine from Boston University this spring.

John E. Pardue of Springfield received a bachelor of science in criminal justice from the University of Scranton this spring.

Stephanie S. Evans of Springfield has been named to the dean's list for second semester at Miami University.

Ellen Clark Ahern of Springfield and David Alton Lindholm have each received two scholarships from Cedarville University in Ohio — an Effective Leadership Scholarship and a President's Scholarship. Effective Leadership Scholarships are awarded to first-year students who have high ACT/SAT scores, outstanding character recommendations and extensive extra curricular leadership and service involvement. President's Scholarships are awarded to first-year students who have an ACT score of 30 or better or a SAT score of 1310 or better and a cumulative grade point average over 3.0. In addition, they were both admitted into the honors program. Ahern is a graduate of Lake Braddock Secondary School. Lindholm is a graduate of James W. Robinson Jr. Secondary School.

Lyndsey Tedesco of Springfield received a bachelor of science degree this spring from the College of Saint Rose, a private liberal arts college in Albany, New York.

Stephanie Susan Evans of Springfield earned a bachelor of music from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. The spring commencement exercises occurred on May 3.

Julie Issa of Springfield, a junior at American University majoring in international studies, was named to the spring dean's list. To earn dean's list acknowledgment, a student must obtain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

To be named to the list, a degree-seeking undergraduate student in the School of Arts and Sciences must take at least 12 credit hours and earn a quality point average of at least 3.6 during the semester.
