Three pedestrians were injured April 20, when a car, driven by a 71- year-old Fairfax County man struck them. The man failed to properly complete a U-turn at the intersection of King and Lee Streets and then drove down the sidewalk where he struck a 51- year- old woman, a 26-year-old woman and a 6-year-old boy, all Fairfax County residents.
The 26-year-old was flown by helicopter to Washington Hospital Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The 51-year-old woman was transported to Alexandria Hospital for treatment of contusions and abrasions. The boy was transported and admitted to Fairfax Hospital for treatment of broken bones and other injuries.
The driver was transported to Alexandria Hospital for treatment of his injuries. Alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in the accident, and charges are pending agains the driver.
