Most Employees Get Pay Increases of 5% or More

Of 5,212 non-uniform employees at Fairfax County who were evaluated thus far in FY 2003, the largest percentage, 18.4 percent, were awarded pay raises of 6 percent.

Of the 5,212 employes who have been evaluated, 3,758, or 72 percent, received pay increases of five percent or more.

The average pay increase in the three years since the county’s Pay for Performance plan was initiated has risen from 4.9 percent the first year to 5.1 percent the second year and 5.3 the third year.

Employee raises are based on evaluations by supervisors. No employee can receive more than seven percent per year.

School, police and fire employees are not included under the Pay for Performance plan.
