Clean and Green

Potomac Clean and Green will be holding their annual clean-up on April 26 from 9 to 11 a.m. “In spring, before everything leafs out, it’s nice to get down and clean up the roads, and clean up around the village,” said Peggy Dennis.

Those wishing to participate should meet at the gazebo near the Safeway in the village. It is advised that cleaners wear boots or sturdy shoes, long sleeves, and gloves. Litter bags will be provided. Call 301-983-1537.

Friends of Cabin John Creek

Several different activities are planned for this Spring with Friends of Cabin John Creek.

Several trash cleanups are scheduled in a variety of points along the creek. The first is set for Saturday, April 12, from 9:30 - noon at the Carderock Springs site. The cleanup area is between Seven Locks Road and River Road, and a bit upstream of River Road. Meet at 9:30 a.m. at the parking lot of Carderock Springs Swim & Tennis Club, 8200 Hamilton Spring Court in Carderock Springs. Contact Jim Finucane at jim.finucane@eia.doe.gov or 301-365-3485.

Additional cleanups are scheduled for April 26 and 27.

Commercial Burglaries

A string of burglaries occurred overnight from March 25 to 26 in Bethesda. Doors were pried open and currency and unknown items were taken from the Tel Aviv Cafe, ACT II, Grapeseed Restaurant, Heritage India and Tragara Restaurant on Cordell Avenue, News Express on Woodmont Avenue.

The incidents are believe to be connected, according to Montgomery County Police. Individuals with information about the burglaries are asked to call Montgomery County Police at 301-657-0111.

Death in Prison

On March 28 at approximately 10:50 a.m., Kevin A. Levi, 46, of Potomac, was found unresponsive in the Fairfax County, Va. Adult Detention Center, according to Fairfax County Sheriffs. A deputy making routine checks found him and summoned medical assistance. He was pronounced dead at 11:10 a.m. and then transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital. Levi was alone in his cell and foul play is not suspected. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine cause of death.

Levi was arrested on Jan. 12 and charged with abduction. He had a preliminary hearing and had appeared before a grand jury. His plea date was scheduled for April 8.

Residential Burglary

Between March 14 and April 1 a house on the 5000 block of Bradley Boulevard was burglarized. Entry was gained through unknown means, a laptop computer was taken.

Kindergarten Orientation

Montgomery County Schools are holding Kindergarten orientation for students who will be five years old on or before Nov. 30 of this year.

The kindergarten orientation is designed to help parents enroll their children, including the completion of health forms, and to assist students in becoming acquainted with future friends and the schools' environment.

Parents who are not certain which elementary school serves their

area should contact the Montgomery County Public Schools boundary office at 301-279-3331 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Orientation for Potomac Schools are scheduled as follows:

* Potomac Elementary — April 24 - 25, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., call 301-469-1042.

* Seven Locks Elementary — April 24, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., call 301-469-1038.
