Hass's parents, Jon E. (Sr.) and Robin A. Hass, have been residents of Mount Vernon for more than 26 years. Jon, a former U.S. Marine, is now a commercial Real Estate developer who recently completed the South County Center which is leased to Fairfax County. Robin provides administrative and bookkeeping services for two dental practices. Hass's sister Leslie, who graduated from Mt. Vernon High School, now works for Burke & Herbert Bank and lives in the Mount Vernon area.

Background:

Hass attended Aquinas Montessori School from kindergarten through fifth grade. He transferred to St. Stephen's & St. Agnes High School and graduated in June 1994. Hass attended college at James Madison University. Upon Completion of Camp Challenge at Fort Knox, Kentucky, during the summer of 1992, he was awarded an ROTC scholarship. He graduated from JMU in 1998.

Upon graduation, Hass was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He received military police training at Ft. McClellan, Anniston, Alabama, and was transferred to Fort Campbell, Kentucky, to assume the position of Platoon Leader with the 551st MP Company. Later, he was promoted to the Adjutant to the Commander of the 716th MP Battalion.

The Battalion was deployed to Camp Bondsteel in Kosovo in April 2001, and returned to Ft. Campbell in November 2001. Upon return to Ft. Campbell, Hass was transferred to the Provost Marshall's office where he served as its Plans Officer. His four-year commitment was completed in November 2002, however, due to the War on Terror and the impending war with Iraq, his commitment was extended to November 2003.

Where/when deployed:

Hass was deployed to Camp Doha, Kuwait, in November 2002, where he is serving as the Deputy Provost Marshall, U.S. Central Command, Kuwait. He is responsible for security for the permanent bases in Kuwait.
