Fairfax County police arrested seven people, early Sunday morning, March 30, following a brawl outside the Shark Club in Centreville's Newgate Shopping Center. Charges ranged from assault on a police officer to disorderly conduct to obstruction of justice.
Two women were charged with assaulting a police officer. They are Nichole Laterz, 29, of 14308 Summer Tree Road, Apt. J, in Centreville's Centre Ridge community, and Joanne Haines-Kenner, 25, of 2156 Snyder Drive in Elizabethtown, Pa.
Officers from the Fair Oaks District Station were on patrol, around 2 a.m., when they saw a fight break out among several people in the nightclub's parking lot.
According to police, "One officer approached the fight and pulled Laterz out of the middle — at which time she [allegedly] struck the officer in the face. Haines-Kenner, who was standing nearby, [allegedly] jumped onto the same officer's back and began hitting him in the head."
A second officer removed her and took her into custody. After a brief struggle, police arrested Laterz, too. Both were taken to the Adult Detention Center and formally charged.
But that's not all. Police say that, while they were trying to arrest the two women, five other people reportedly interfered and were also taken into custody. Charged with obstruction of justice and being drunk in public was Matthew L. Kenner, 25, of 2156 Snyder Drive in Elizabethtown, Pa.
James Edward Kramer, 21, and Felix Javier Martinez, 22 — both of 2408 Cloudcroft Square in Reston — and Jason Alan Hutson, 21, of 6730 Jenny Leigh Court in Centreville, were all charged with disorderly conduct. Police charged Carlos Martinez, 24, of 14308 Summer Tree Road, Apt. J, in Centreville, with being drunk in public.
Haines-Kenner was released, later that day, on $3,000 bond and has a May 28 court date. Laterz was released Monday on $2,500 bond and has a June 2 court date.
