<cal2>On Saturday, Oct. 26, hundreds of volunteers in Fairfax County will take part in the Unity in the Spirit of America (USA) initiative, a volunteer program created to help Americans remember those lost on Sept. 11, respond to the attacks in a positive American way, and rebuild communities through volunteer service.
On this day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Volunteer Fairfax, in partnership with the Fairfax County Public Schools, will host its eighth annual VolunteerFest Day. This community-wide service day, "Service in our Schools" will focus on the needs in our public schools. All service projects and in-school community service activities in the prior week will be dedicated to the remembrance of Sept. 11 victims.
Community teams, businesses, PTAs, scout troops, families, and individuals are encouraged to be part of this service day by registering for projects in schools and administrative buildings throughout the county.
