United We Stand and the Herndon Chamber of Commerce will host a community remembrance service on Wednesday, Sept. 11 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on the Town Square in front of the Old Town Hall Building at 730 Elden St. From 6:30-7:30 p.m., Sousa marches, fife and drum formations and patriotic choral performances will be offered. The public is invited to bring a blanket and picnic basket. Refreshments will be available from the Boy Scouts and local restaurants. At 7:30 p.m, the formal portion of the evening will begin with the presentation of colors and the singing of the national anthem. This will be followed by remarks from Mayor Thoesen. Dignitaries will read from the roll call of names of those who fell in the terrorist attack on the Pentagon. Representatives from the Christian, Islamic and Jewish communities will offer a prayer composed especially for the occasion.
First Baptist Church of Herndon will open the church sanctuary for a Day of Remembrance from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sept. 11. St. Anne's Episcopal Church on 1700 Wainwright Dr., Reston plans a day of remembrance on Wednesday, Sept. 11. The Holy Eucharist will be celebrated at 7:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. During an all-day vigil on the church nave parishioners will read the names of those who died in the terrorist attacks. The United Christian Parish of Reston will conduct a Service of Remembrance on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 7:30 p.m. at its Redeemer Building, 11508 North Shore Drive, next to the Lake Anne Elementary School. The service will honor all those who died in the terrible tragedy of Sept. 11, 2001 and those who served in the rescue efforts. The service is open to everyone in the community.

Moms In Touch International is a group of mothers who gather to pray for students, teachers and schools As students all over the nation begin the fall term, more than 150,000 mothers will be heading back to Moms In Touch groups to pray for their children, teachers and schools. In Virginia, there are 700 MITI prayer groups meeting in every region and rapidly growing in the Northern Virginia region. Locally-based marketing and advertising partnership Kristof Creative has started a working relationship with the Ashburn-based Faith Foundation. The faith foundation was created by Redskins player Eddie Mason and his wife, and is a charitable organization serving the youth and families of Northern Virginia. The faith foundation's first annual fundraising event, "Raising Hope for Children and Families," is scheduled for Oct. 1 at 6 p.m., at the Sheraton Premiere in Tyson's Corner. Funds from the upcoming event will help launch the Faith Foundation's "Discovering Destiny and Purpose' programs for local youths and adults.
