Gerald Gordon, president and chief executive officer of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority, will speak at the next Greater McLean Chamber Business Forum on Thursday, Oct. 24. The luncheon program will be held at Fleming’s Steakhouse and Wine Bar in Tysons. In addition to teaching at several local universities, Dr. Gordon has written eight books and numerous articles on strategic planning, economic development and leadership styles. The Vienna-Tysons Regional Chamber of Commerce unveiled its new Web site and logo on Wednesday, Sept. 25. The Web site is designed to provide important information concerning upcoming events, member benefits and contact information, and several interactive features will be added to the site over the coming weeks. Nautilus Communications, a chamber member, designed and manages the site, which displays the new logo created by Vicki Serraino of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority. The board of directors of the McLean Citizens Association (MCA) has voted to support the Northern Virginia sales tax referendum, which will appear on the November ballot. Clark Tyler of the MCA's Transportation Committee and Jim Turner of the Budget and Taxation Committee presented the resolution to the board. The board voted to strongly support the sales tax referendum and urged the 70,000 residents of the McLean area to vote “yes” on the referendum. Monte Carlo Night, sponsored by the Greater McLean Chamber of Commerce, will take place on Nov. 2, from 7:30-11 p.m. at the Double Tree Hotel, 7801 Leesburg Pike.

A Business Mixer, sponsored by the McLean Chamber of Commerce, will be held on Nov. 20, from 7:30-9 a.m. at Mars Inc. Tour and breakfast at J. Gilberts, 6930 Old Dominion Drive.

Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC) announced that Fairfax County supervisor Gerald E. Connolly (D-Providence) has joined the company as director for community relations to further strengthen SAIC's commitment to business growth and community involvement in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area.  Connolly brings with him more than 30 years of experience in international relations, legislative

affairs and public policy.

As supervisor, he represents 110,000 citizens including the entire business district of Tysons Corner, Northern Virginia's largest commercial center. Connolly also chairs the Reorganization, Legislative Affairs and Procedures committees in Fairfax County.

In 1989, Connolly served as vice president for SRI International, Economic Policy Division, in the Washington, D.C., office.  During his tenure, he was responsible for the management of SRI relations with senior officials in the federal government, including both the executive branch and Congress.
