Contractors took apart the barn at the Krasnow house property two weeks ago. The city plans to save the barn's skeleton. When funds become available, the city will reconstruct the skeleton and some of its siding, and use the barn as a teaching tool.
The barn "displays a combination of construction techniques showing the change from mortice-and-tenon to nail joinery," said Dr. Christopher Martin, director of Historic Resources for the City of Fairfax.
