<cal2>Secrets of the Real (or Faking It), an exhibition of paintings by Northern Virginia-based artists Patrick Kirwin and Sharon Moody, runs through Saturday, Nov. 30. The exhibit is featured at DEGA Gallery, 8100 Old Dominion Drive, McLean. Both artists are fully versed in traditional approaches to realism as well as trompe l’oeil, a French technique that means to “deceive the eye.”
“Far and Near” is the theme of the Vienna Arts Society exhibit running through Dec. 15. The featured artist is Dolores Santarelli, a watercolorist. The Gallery is located at 513 Maple Ave., Vienna, in the Village Green Shopping Center. The hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Admission is free. The Northern Virginia Handcrafters Guild (NVHG) will hold its 20th annual Art and Craft Showcase on Thanksgiving Weekend at the Vienna Community Center, 120 Cherry St. S.E. Show hours are Friday and Saturday, Nov. 29 and 30, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 1, from 12-5 p.m. Seventy-five juried NVHG members will display and sell their creations in six areas of the Community Center. Items include gifts, collectibles, fine art and home accessories. Food will be available. Admission is $1 and will go to a scholarship fund.
Betty Ganley, an artist from Great Falls, has an exhibit at the Great Falls Library. Her watercolors will be displayed at the library through Dec. 31.
She paints florals and marine scenes, and her work is included in “The Best of Flower Paintings” by North Light Publications, which features work by the nation’s leading floral painters.
