Nancy Saunders June, daughter of Bob and JoAnne June, Cambridge Rd., Alexandria, a graduate of Blessed Sacrament and Bishop Ireton High School ('99), is a junior at James Madison University in Harrisonburg. Nancy went to James Madison University in Florence, Italy, January through April, 2002, and made the Dean's list. She is majoring in speech communications.

Earning honrable mention dean's list status at Lynchburg College are Alexandria residents Melody Rickman, daughter of Glenn Rickman of Alexandria and Shirley Guyton of Madison Heights; William Convery, son of William and Nancy Convery; Kimberly Sharbel, daughter of Kelly and Nancy Sharbel; and Amanda Reddig, daughter of Michael and Judith Reddig.

Eight Alexandria residents enrolled in classes at the Alexandria Campus of Northern Virginia Community College (NVCC) have been named to the edition of Who's Who in American Junior Colleges: Nassib Asali, computer science; Ian Conrad, mathematics; Benjamin V. Gibson, science and math; Mee Jin Kang, business administration; Baffour Owusu-Agyare, electrical engineering; Justin L. Pigott, liberal arts; David Riddy, international affairs; Karlys Vannessa White, liberal arts.

Three students who live in Alexandria and attend classes at the Annandale campus were selected for Who's Who: Rene Cazoe, business administration; Benjamin Gibson, math and science; and Syreeta Scarboro, general studies

Registration for summer Nature Camp 2002 is currently taking place at the Ford Nature Center Tuesday through Saturday from 10-5 p.m., Registration is on-going, but early registration is advised as camps are filling up rapidly. Eight nature themed camp sessions are offered for children ages 3-12. The following residents of Alexandria enrolled in the Episcopal High School in Alexandria were named to the High list, Episcopal High School's academic honor roll, for the third quarter of school year 2001-2002: Mary Kirk Brady, Laura Hungerford Canfield, Samuel Page Duke III, Lindsey Nicole Gowin, Robert Wittle Larkin, Jessica Lynn McConnel, and Kevin McDowell Stevens. This honor denotes an average of 90 or above in five or more academic courses for the year.

Cadet Brian Eddy Pinedo, son of Eddy and Lourdes Pinedo of Alexandria, graduate of West Potomac High School in 1998, is studying general management at West Point.

Andre Beaulieu, son of Scott and Elizabeth Beaulieu of Alexandria, is a member of Saint Michael’s College Rescue Squad. The all-volunteer student-run emergency rescue squad at the Vermont college responds to over 2,000 calls each year. Beaulieu and his squad members are responsible for the Saint Michael’s campus and four towns, an area spanning 385 square miles in Vermont’s most populated county. He attends weekly training sessions and practice drills, and is on call 24-hours per week. Beaulieu is a first-year student, exploratory major.

Thar Roeung, a graduate of St. Stephens and St. Agnes School and a resident of Alexandria, has completed her Senior Independent Study Project at The College of Wooster in Ohio. A philosophy major, Roeung’s project was titled "An Ethical Key to Lockes on Pharmaceutical Patents."

Alexandria resident Linnea Bloom, a graduate of West Potomac High School, has completed her Senior Independent Study Project at The College of Wooster in Ohio. A sociology major, Bloom’s project was titled "Reflections: Teenagers React to Norway’s First Racially Motivated Killing."

Rebecca Lynn Foreman of Alexandria, BSED, physical eduction-health, is among 1,391 graduates who received degrees May 10-11, at the University of Central Oklahoma, Edmond, OK. The spring graduates include 1,062 being granted bachelor's degrees and 329 master's degrees.

Kevin J. Harris of Alexandria is among 729 students named to the honor roll at Alabama State University for the spring semester. Harris was honored at the 2002 Honors Day Convocation held on April 12. To qualify for the honor roll, students must have a 3.0 or higher grade point average.
