City Council announced a joint public hearing with the Alexandria Redevelopment and Housing Authority on three potential off-site locations for replacement units as the Samuel Madden Homes are redeveloped.
The public hearing will be held on Monday, June 24, at 6 p.m. at the Ladrey highrise, 300 Wythe Street.
Forty eight replacement units must be found in off-site locations. The sites that are being considered are at 1706 West Braddock Road, near T.C. Williams High School, adjacent to current public housing units; 423 S. Reynolds Street and 325 South Whiting Street. The city is proposing to construct six units on Braddock Road, 18 units on South Reynolds and 24 units on South Whiting.
The first public informational meeting will be held at Minnie Howard School on June 10 at 7 p.m., the second, at Samuel Tucker Elementary School on June 17, at 7 p.m.
