Charles E. "Chuck" Almer, 59, Vice President, Human Resources at Freddie Mac, died in his sleep on May 15, 2002 at his home in Oak Hill.
In 1998, Church retired from a 27-year career with Mobil Corp where he served in increasingly responsible positions in human resources in the U.S. and Norway. When he left Mobil, he started Linsea Consulting, a human resources practice, during which time he consulted for Freddie Mac. In 2000, he joined Freddie Mac on a full time basis as vice president, Human Resources, Compensation and Benefits.
His greatest love was his family. In addition, he was a softball coach for many years and served on the board of the Vienna Girls Softball League. He was an enthusiastic fan of his daughters' sports activities and an avid golfer.
His absence is grieved by his wife of almost 29 years, Carrie; his daughters, Chelsea and Caitlin; two sons, Paul and Jon, from a former marriage, and their families; a brother, Stephen Almer; his in-laws, Alice and Paul Galletti; and his sister-in-law, Barb and her family, including husband, Mark and children, Christopher, Nadine, Amy and Michael-Ann; and numerous friends in the Herndon, Oakton, and Vienna communities.
Family received friends on Friday, May 17 at Money and King Funeral Home, 171 Maple Ave., Vienna. Services were held on Saturday, May 18 at Vienna Presbyterian Church, 124 Park Street, NE, Vienna. Contributions may be sent to the Vienna Girls Softball League.
