Council Appoints New Connector Task Force Members

Bowing to public pressure, City Council appointed five new members to the Eisenhower-Duke Connector Task Force at the public hearing on May 18.

The five new members represent neighborhoods that are east of Quaker Lane, representing the area that could be affected by building a connector at Roth Street.

Ginny Hines Parry believes that the additions will be helpful to the process. “Neighborhoods that are going to be affected by decisions should be represented,” Parry said. “I believe that all of the members of the task force will act in good faith and I believe that a good decision can be reached. All of the old alternatives will be considered equally.”

The composition of the task force came into question when members who all live west of Quaker Lane selected the Roth Street option.

New members are Ginny Hines Parry, representing Clover-College Park; George Foote, representing Seminary Hills; William Harvey, representing Carlyle Towers; Tom Raycrot, representing Taylor Run and Judy Miller, representing Rosemont. The only affected neighborhood that is not represented is Quaker Hill.

The first meeting will be held on May 29, at 7:30 p.m. in the City Council workroom at City Hall.
