<sh>Park Authority Schedules Forum
<bt>The Fairfax County Park Authority will hold a public forum at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, at the McLean Community Center, to hear from citizens about park and recreation needs. The information will be gathered for a needs assessment study to develop recommendations and strategies to address countywide park needs. The consultants, Leisure Vision and Leon Younger and Pros, will help the Park Authority with the study, to be completed by the end of 2002.
The public forums will be used to accept citizen input on issues such as parks use, satisfaction, programming, facilities, and funding priorities.
The information will be used to develop the demand, community standards, needs and issues concerning parks.

Public Forums will also be held on May 20 at Mason District Government Center, 6507 Columbia Pike, Annandale; on May 22 at FCPA Headquarters at the Herrity Building, 12055 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax, and on May 23 at Whitman Intermediate School, 2500 Parkers Lane, Alexandria. <sh>8K Leads Off McLean Day
<bt>The 8K Old Firehouse run, held annually on McLean Day, begins at 9 a.m. at Lewinsville Park. Registration begins at 8 a.m. on race day.
The first McLean Family Walkathon, a 2k that also begins in Lewinsville Park, will begin at 10 a.m. Registration for the 8K run is $15 in advance at the Old Firehouse in McLean, or $18 on the day of the race. Trophies will be awarded by 10-year age groups.
Registration for the 2K walk is $20 for individuals or $40 for families. Proceeds benefit Life with Cancer and Langley Residential Support Services.
<sh>Alcohol Sting Strikes Stores
<bt>The Traffic Safety Services Unit, along with the McLean Community Policing Unit, conducted an alcohol sting at 28 locations within the McLean district on May 10. The sting is part of the Youth Alcohol Campaign and was conducted using under-age Fairfax County Police cadets, dressed in plain clothing, who attempted to purchase alcoholic beverages. The following locations were reported by police as having improperly sold alcoholic beverages: Safeway Store, 7397 Lee Highway, Falls Church; Safeway Store, 1330 Chain Bridge Road, McLean; Safeway Store, 6244 Old Dominion Drive, McLean; CVS store, 1452 Chain Bridge Road, McLean, and 7-Eleven store, 8110 Old Dominion Drive, McLean. Twenty-three other locations did not sell alcoholic beverages to the cadets. Five arrests were made in the five establishments where alcohol was sold to the cadets.
<sh>Suspect Sought in Tysons Area Robbery
<bt>Fairfax County Police are investigating a robbery that occurred in the 8800 block of Ashgrove House Lane in the Tysons Corner area at about 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As a 25-year old woman was walking to her condominium, a man turned around and walked toward her. He grabbed her purse from her shoulder and ran to a car that was parked in front of 1571 Leeds Castle Road. The woman was not injured.
The suspect vehicle was described as a sporty, dark-colored, late-model Toyota Camry with Maryland license plates. The suspect was described as white with a dark complexion, in his 20s, standing five feet nine inches tall and weighing 190 pounds with short, straight, black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a white tee shirt and blue jeans. Anyone with information about the incident or the suspect is asked to call police at 703-691-2131.
