<bt>Herndon resident Rosalie Y. Gaskins (Nana) died on April 24 at the age of 99. She was born in Bluemont, Va. on Nov. 12, 1903 to William Young and Leila Alice Gregg Young.
Gaskins is survived by Harold Hampton of Vienna, Earl E. Hampton of Herndon and Elaine Payne of Sterling. She also leaves behind three great-nieces: Mary Grayson of Vienna, Roberta Hagginbotham and Edna Mae Corum of Gaithersburg, Md, as well as a great-nephew, Henry Jackson, Jr., of Gaithersburg. Other remaining family members include nephews Winston Gaskins, Curtis Smith, Mackenzie Gaskins, Edgar Gaskins, and John Tolbert, Jr., and nieces Emma Howard, Dorothy Ford, and Cokey Ashton. Other loved ones include many grandchildren, great-nieces, great-nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Gaskins was a member of Austin Grove United Methodist Church in Upperville. The viewing took place on April 27 Austin Grove United Methodist Church in Bluemont.
The funeral service followed with interment at Rock Hill Cemetery in Round Hill. The pallbearers were Gerald Hampton, Tony Hampton, Rodney Hampton, Alvin Greyson, Dixon Pollard and Monte Hampton. Charles Lee and Charles Howard were honorary pallbearers. Arrangements were made by Lyles Funeral Service, serving Northern Virginia.
