<b>Bank Robbery</b>
<bt>Shortly before 10 a.m. Monday morning, a single suspect robbed the First Virginia Bank located at 5515 Lee Highway.
The man entered the bank, walked up to a teller window and demanded money from walk-up windows and the drive-through teller. Both tellers handed over an undetermined amount of money and the suspect fled on foot.
The suspect is described as a black male, 6'3", medium build, with a Band-Aid on his forehead, wearing a dark-colored spandex mask, gray pants and a dark jacket over a sweatshirt. He was last seen walking west on Lee Highway.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Arlington County Detective Noel Hanrahan at 703-228-4195 or the FBI Washington Field Office at 202-278-2360.
<b>Turn Lanes</b>
<bt>After decades of community support for the project, Arlington County has installed left turn lanes for three directions at the intersection of Columbia Pike and Glebe Road.
Left turn lanes are in place for both east- and westbound Columbia Pike, and for the southbound lanes of Glebe Road. The county is still in negotiations for land to accommodate a left turn lane for northbound Glebe.
County Board Chair Chris Zimmerman, a resident of the area, praised the move by the county. It was the first step toward implementing the Columbia Pike Revitalization Initiative, he said, a plan passed by the board at its March 9 meeting.
