Desiree Diane Coffman of Ashburn has been selected by Mary Washington College for Honors admission for the fall 2002 semester. She is the daughter of Bill and Diana Coffman of Ashburn and is a recent graduate of Broad Run High School.
Boy Scouts Jared Marcantoni and Aaron Christie of Troop 761 were recently honored by the Loudoun County Chapter of the Izaak Walton League for their commitment to Scouting highlighted in their respective Eagle projects. Marcantoni was honored for designing and developing an Orienteering Course. Christie was honored for establishing a descriptive Nature Trail.
Major Randy J. Badura of the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office graduated from the 209th session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico. Badura was among 249 law enforcement officers graduated on June 14. The session consisted of men and women from 49 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and 22 international countries. A 16-year veteran of the Sheriff's Office, Badura started his career in 1986 as a dispatcher and has worked in every division within the Sheriff's Office. Badura will return to his position as the commander of the special operations division.
Park View High School students from the Interact Club, the Multicultural Club and Friends Without Borders presented seven new flags to principal Anne Brooks. The newly recognized countries are Australia, Portugal, Afghanistan, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, France and China. Park View's lobby will now display 47 flags representing the native countries of the diverse Park View student body.
Kiwanis Club of Goose Creek President Albert Merchant, Jr. recently presented a $2,500 scholarship to Amelia Ballenger of Purcellville. Ameila graduated from Loudoun Valley High School and is planning to attend James Madison University to study Business.
