Nancy Elizabeth Smith Hall, 80, died at the Cheshire Medical Center, Keene, NH, on Saturday, June 1 , 2002. She was born in Easthampton, Ma., on Aug. 2, 1921. She was the daughter of Howard B. and Dorothea O. Smith, and attended schools in Easthampton, Ma., and was a graduate of Smith College in 1945. She served in the U.S. Navy as Lt. Comdr., Office of Naval Intelligence from 1942 to 1945. She was employed a a librarian by the Central Intelligence Agency and was an avid reader, active gardener, home decorator and gourmet cook.
Mrs.Hall was a long-time resident of McLean, Va., and summer resident in Alstead, NH She was an active member of Lewinsville Presbyterian church in McLean, and a year-round supporter of the Third Congregational Church in Alstead.
On Nov. 22, 1945, she married W. Daniel Hall, Jr. Four children survive her in addition to her husband: Warren D. Hall III, of Springfield, Va., Jonathan T. Hall, of Charleston, SC, Timothy A. Hall, of Bluemont, Va., and Phoebe H. Danahy, or Moorestown, NJ. In addition, she is survived by 13 grandchildren, two brothers, a sister, many nieces and nephews and countless dear friends.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Fenton and Hennessey Funeral Home, Bellows Falls, Vt., is handling the arrangements. Memorial donations may be sent in lieu of flowers to the Third Church UCC, River St., Alstead, NH 03602.
