The Child Development Center at the Arlington Community Action Program, Inc., 1644 N. McKinley Road, is offering a full-year program for children ages 2-5 in a mixed-age setting. Children participate in a variety of activities in an atmosphere that respects diversity. Children must be potty-trained. Fees include breakfast, lunch and a snack. The Historic Arlington Roundtable is held the first Tuesday of the month for anyone interested in the history, traditions and heritage of Arlington in Room 715 at the Arlington County Building, 2100 Clarendon Blvd. at 12:15 p.m. Bring a lunch and listen to an expert on the month’s topic. The 2002 Northern Virginia Senior Olympics will be held September 14-26. Participants 50 years of age and older can enter in more that 25 indoor and outdoor activities. Events include golf, tennis, swimming, cribbage, cards, pickleball, line dancing, horseshoes, archery, basketball, chess, racquetball and shuffleboard. Events in track and field begin at Falls Church High School at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14. The deadline for registration is Aug. 30. There is a $4 fee and $1 per event entered. Registration forms are available now at all senior centers or by calling 703-228-4403.

Arlington County Cooperative Extension is looking for volunteers, both teen and adult, to serve as docents for its exhibit at the Arlington County Fair on August 15-18 2002 at the Thomas Jefferson Community Center. Volunteers must be 11 years of age or older. Some positions require training. ACE Summer Volunteer Projects will hold the Four Mile Run stream cleanup at Barcroft Park, located at 4100 S. Four Mile Run Drive, on Saturday, July 27 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The organization will also hold a watering and maintenance of riparian plantings at Benjamin Banneker Park, located at 1701 N.
