July 10, 2002
The Great Falls Newcomers Club sponsored the annual Baby Parade held at Village Centre in Great Falls on July 4.
The tradition was started in Great Falls by Margaret Johnson, who remembered the parade from her hometown of Ridgefield Park N.J., and started it here in Great Falls about 10 years ago.
For the last few years, the Newcomers have organized and sponsored the parade, signing up registrants at Village Centre on July 4. They circle the green several times as judges make notes before naming the winners of awards like "Curliest Hair" and "Happiest Baby."
Traditionally, some of the categories are created on the spot to match the characteristics of the entrants.
This year's winners, announced by Newcomers President-Elect Kay Baird, are:
Youngest: Julianna Vail Grimson
