Erin Hutnick of Herndon was named to the President's List (3.55 to 4.0 GPA) at Sienna College for Spring 2002.
This year's recipients of the 2002 GRACE Visual Arts Scholarships are Eric Morrell of Herndon High School and Brook Tobey of South Lakes High School. They each received a $1,000 scholarship honoring their excellence in the contemporary visual arts. In its fourth year, GRACE presented its Visual Arts Scholarship to encourage and foster growth in contemporary art. Both Eric and Brook plan to attend the Pratt Institute of Art in New York. Andrea Freedy, daughter of Harry and Terry Freedy of Herndon, has been named to the Deans List of Radford University for the spring semester. Freedy, a 2001 graduate of Herndon High School, is planning a career in elementary education.

Freshman Salman Cheema of Herndon was named to the Dean's List for the 2002 spring semester at Syracuse University's College of Arts and Sciences. To be named for the list, students must achieve a 3.4 grade point average on the 4.0 scale. The college is home to more than 18,000 students. Cheema is majoring in arts and sciences.
Gustavo and Paulo Martinex and Anabeiba Palomino, their mother, will be recognized for two years of perfect attendance on July 29 for attending an English class two nights a week at Herndon High School. They began taking the class in May 2000.
Sophomore Roger Samuels was named to the Dean's List for the 2002 spring semester at Syracuse University's School of Management. To be honored, students must complete at least 12 credit hours and have at least a 3.4 grade point average on the 4.0 scale during the semester. The school is home to 18,000 students. Samuels is majoring in entrepreneurship and emerging enterprises and finance.
