Uprooted Tour. Celtic rock bands Great Big Sea, Seven Nations and the Young Dubliners will be at Wolf Trap¹s Filene Center, Vienna, 7 p.m.

The Kings Park Concert Band, under the direction of John Pickerel, will present a selection of classical, contemporary and patriotic band music at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 4, at Kings Park, on Kings Park Drive in Burke. Free.

The City of Fairfax Parks and Recreation hosts a day-long event including a parade, fireworks, history and firefighters beginning at 10 a.m., rain or shine. Parade performers include aerial acrobatics, musicians and two marching bands from Baltimore and the hailed Washington Redskins. The theme ³America Stands Proud² was created by Daniels Run Elementary School student Katie McGee. Following the parade, local fire companies will compete using firefighting techniques, from 12:30-5 p.m. at Fire Station 3, 4081 University Drive. During the events the City of Fairfax police officers will host an ice cream social and bike ride-along, from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. at Van Dyck Park. As the sun sets, the Fairfax Band, Holly Bingham from the U.S. Army Band, and Still Surfin¹, a Beach Boys tribute band, serenade at 7 p.m. at Fairfax High School, 3500 Old Lee Highway. Fireworks begin after dark; rain date for fireworks only is July 5. Red, Hot & Blue will provide boxed barbecue dinners. Shuttle bus service for the parade runs from 8:30-10:30 a.m. from George Mason University, Woodson High School and Fairfax United Methodist Church. For the evening show, shuttles will travel from Woodson High School at 6 p.m. and return after the show. Fireworks hosted by the McLean Community Center will be held on July 4 at sunset on the Langley High School athletic field, located at 6520 Georgetown Pike in McLean. The field will open at 6 p.m.; the fireworks begin at dark. Admission and parking are free; however, donations to defray costs are welcome. Vienna¹s July Fourth Celebration. Visitors to the celebration are invited to sign a ³Town of Vienna, Virginia Salutes Our Troops² banner, which will be on display at noon at the Vienna Community Center, 120 Cherry St. S.E. Salon Cielo in the Tysons II Galleria will hold a cut-a-thon, Sunday, July 7, from 9 a.m.-noon, for Ashley Dubey, 5, of Centreville. Her mother, Seema Dubey, has been a hairdresser at the salon for eight years, and the funds raised will go toward Ashley¹s medical care. The little girl was struck, May 2, by a hit-and-run driver and sustained a severe head injury. She will need extensive rehabilitation to try to regain movement in her right arm and right leg and is now in a rehabilitation hospital in Charlottesville. School Board chair Jane Strauss will visit the Great Falls Grange to discuss the process for redrawing school boundaries, which will occur later this year. The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. with a short discussion of GFCA business. All Great Falls residents are welcome to attend to learn about this very important issue and ask questions about how the process works, in preparation for the public hearings that will take place this fall.

Dog Park Opens. Vienna Dog Park will have its grand opening at 9 a.m. located at Moorefield Park on Courthouse Road Southwest, just off Nutley Street and adjacent to Fairfax County¹ s Nottoway Park. The park includes an enclosed dog exercise area with benches, ³doggie bag² dispensers and waste receptacles and a source of water. Town of Vienna dog licenses will be sold at the park on opening day; bring the dog¹s rabies certificate and spay/neuter certificate. Five-time Grammy Award Nominees Cathy Fink & Marcy Marxer will open McLean Central Park¹s new Summer Sunday Concerts in the Park series on Sunday, July 14. A Grand Opening Celebration and Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for a newly installed gazebo, which was funded through the efforts of the Friends of McLean Central Park, will be held before the concert. Activities for families, such as a train ride, a moon bounce, face painting and a juggler, will take place from 1-4 p.m. WRC-TV meteorologist (and McLean resident) Bob Ryan will host the celebration.
