A 16-year-old driver who lost control of his vehicle June 25, resulting in the death of his 19-year passenger, has been charged by Fairfax County police with manslaughter, felony speed to elude and possession with the intent to distribute drugs.
Police said the driver hit a traffic pole at the intersection of Richmond Highway and Collard Street after police attempted to stop him for a broken rear brake light.
The 2000 Nissan sedan traveled northbound and hit a pole, killing Foday Bamba Barrie of Mount Vernon. The driver was medevaced to Inova Fairfax Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
