On Feb. 20, Churchill's "Blast from the Past" crew had it's first rehearsal for the show, which begins performances in April. Director, producer, and choreographer Carlos Barillo has chosen "United We Rock" as the theme of Blast 2002. "The cast and crew are just amazing this year," said Barillo, "I had to add eight more songs because of all the talented kids we have. It's like a cornucopia of talent, and the variety of music this year is fabulous."
"I'm really glad that Chuck [band director] is back to direct the Blast," said Jeff Seifried.
Blast promises to be an exciting trip through American Music: 50's and 60's doo-wop, Motown, disco, country crossover, the Jacksons, James Bond 007, good ol' American Rock, and a surprise section.
"I'm so excited for Blast this year!" said Kit Whelan. "I've done it for four years, but this time is going to be the best. We have great songs
and great people doing them."
Senior, Nicole Neuman (lead) agreed and added, "Mr. Barillo is an awesome director and choreographer.
There will be performances on April 19, 20, 26 and 27.
"It'll leave the audience astounded," said Barillo, "and could make even Broadway jealous."
