Arrest Made in Homicide
Fairfax County Police arrested Debra A. Thomas in connection with a homicide that occurred at the Value Inns of America, located at 6601 Richmond Highway in the Groveton area, about 6 a.m. Nov. 23. The victim has been identified as Joseph Holmes, 49, of no fixed address. Holmes died from soot and smoke inhalation.
Burglary Investigated
Fairfax County Police are investigating a burglary which occured in the 9100 block of Kelford Court in the Lorton area, sometime between 1 p.m. Dec. 10 and 11 a.m. Dec. 14. A new homeowner called police after he discovered that the townhouse he recently purchased and was in the process of moving in to had been burglarized. The homeowner also discovered that several rooms in the townhouse had been spray painted with ethnic slurs and a computer was stolen from the garage area. The Fairfax County Police Department recognizes the potential harm that bias crimes and incidents can have in a community, and consequently encourages people to report them. All bias crimes and incidents are investigated thoroughly.
Search for Woman
Fairfax County Police are investigating the disappearance of 19-year-old Fanta Moses of 8467 Diablo Ct. in the Hybla Valley area. Moses has not been seen or heard from since Dec. 11. On Dec. 13, Moses failed to appear in court on a case in which she was a victim of a stalking. She has not been to work. Police suspect that foul play may be involved with Moses' disappearance.
Moses took the 10:10 p.m. Metro bus (29-K) from Fairfax City to Alexandria City. She was last seen on the bus at 10:47 p.m. at Landmark Center. Moses was wearing black-colored jeans and a brown jacket. Moses is employed with Sunrise Assisted Living in Fairfax County. Anyone with information about her whereabouts or when they last saw her is asked to call police at 703-691-2131.
