Nicholas R. Adam, son of Mary J. and Gerard R. Adam of Oakton, recently participated in the U.S. Naval Academy’s week-long summer seminar program in Annapolis, Md.
During the program, Adam was introduced to academy life through a regimen of academics, physical training, intramural sports, sailing and seamanship, as well as leadership training and social activities.
The summer program was designed by the U.S. Naval Academy’s office of admissions to give students a taste of the challenges and benefits of a Naval Academy education. Adam is currently attending Flint Hill Preparatory School.
Department of the Army civilian Matthew C. Dorcus has graduated from the Army ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) National Advanced Leadership Camp at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Wash. The primary focus of the camp is to evaluate each cadet’s performance and progress in officer traits, qualities and professionalism. Dorcus is the son of Harry and Deborah Dorcus of Oakton. He graduated from Oakton high school in 1999.
Charles J. Palen, son of Marianne and Christopher Palen of Vienna, recently participated in the US. Naval Academy’s week-long summer seminar program in Annapolis, Md. During the seminar, Palen was introduced to academy life and given a taste of the challenge and benefits of a Naval Academy education. Palen is currently attending G.C. Marshall High School.
