"FAME," the stage musical, dances into the James Madison High School Theatre on April 11.

Conceived by David De Silva, with a book by Jose Fernandez, lyrics by Jacques Levy and music by Steve Margoshes, the production will be directed by Natalie Vandever, choreography by Jennifer Koonce, vocal direction by Sharon Baldwin, orchestral direction by Daniel Lee and will feature over 50 performers.

Some of the featured performers include Alex May as Nick Piazza, Kristy Gooch as Carmen Diaz, Eric Fletcher as Scholomo Metzenbaum, Katherine Lipovsky as Ms. Sherman, Kevin Powell as Tyrone Jackson and many more. Student-run technical crews will support the musical's story.

Set in the 1980s, "FAME" focuses on the hopes, dreams and aspirations of a group of students attending New York's high school of Performing Arts on West 46th Street. The musical chronicles their four-year odyssey from audition to graduation at the school whose unofficial motto is "Fame costs and this is where you start paying." "FAME" premiered 15 years after the release of the MGM motion picture "Fame," which received four Academy Award nominations. The film was followed by the television show starring Debbie Allen and Janet Jackson that ran for six years on network television and in syndication. The show received numerous Emmy awards and has been seen in 68 countries.
