This year's Earth Day — Arbor Day celebration for Fairfax County takes place Saturday, April 27 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Annandale Campus of Northern Virginia Community College. Program highlights include musical performances by the popular children's singer, Billy B, interactive children's theater with Glee Mania, Back Pack Puppets and Joe Pipik and the Goodlife Theater. Other activities throughout the day include a petting zoo, gardening tips from Weird Dude's Plant Zoo, face painting and the popular "Caterpillar Crawl." National Youth Service Day will take place on Saturday, April 27 and Sunday, April 28. Youth from all over the country will participate in various service projects to help better their local communities. Youth and families can contribute their time and energies to their own community. <cal2>An AIDS Benefit concert will be held Saturday, April 27, at 7:30 p.m. at the Clifton Town Meeting Hall at 12641 Chapel Road in Clifton. In full buckskin attire, Michael Sottosanti will demonstrate how the Pamunkey Indians made bows and arrows when the first English settlers arrived in Jamestown. <cal2>Plans are in motion for the fifth-annual "Walk for Shea" Megale, which is scheduled for Sunday, April 28 at the Virginia Run Community Center. Mark your calendars to meet at 9 a.m. — rain or shine. Shea Megale is a 6-year-old Virginia Run resident who has a rare and terminal form of muscular dystrophy called Spinal Muscular Atrophy for which there is no cure. Although she is confined to a wheelchair, Shea leads walkers on a 5-K walk throughout the community. All proceeds will benefit research for this disease. The cost is $3 for children under 18 and $5 for adults. Friendly dogs and strollers welcome. The Centreville Regional Art Guild (CRAG) is celebrating its third birthday on Sunday, April 28 from 4-6 p.m. at the Centreville Regional Library. <cal2>A Tot Trot fund-raiser to raise money for Shaken Baby Syndrome will be held Saturday, May 4 at 10 a.m. in the parking circle near the Belle Willard Administration Building at 3750 Old Lee Highway in Fairfax. The rain date will be Saturday, May 11.
Each participant can walk, use a walker, ride in a wheelchair, stroller, or even be carried along a 1/10-mile track. The participants will have sponsors from the community pledge $1 per lap of the track, or flat donations will also be accepted. There will be a $10 early registration fee per tot or a $15 registration fee per family. All proceeds from the event will benefit The Shaken Baby Alliance, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising public awareness, supporting victim families and advocating for justice for the victims of Shaken Baby Syndrome, a tragic and preventable form of child abuse.

<cal2>In the aftermath of the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, many quilts were tucked in among the thousands of gifts and letters of support sent to the building. At least 16 of these treasured Pentagon Quilts will be on display for the first time to the public during the Quilters Unlimited 29th Annual Quilt Show.
Quilters Unlimited will hold its Annual Quilt Show on May 10-12 at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly. There will be 70 vendors offering thousands of quilt-related items, such as books, fabric, patterns, antique quilts, quilt hangers, etc. Some 600 quilted items will be on display for viewing purposes only. There will be a silent auction, bazaar and raffle quilt.
