On April 22, Aziz and Najib Nawabi opened their new restaurant, Rice & Kabob, in the Sugarland Crossing Shopping Center in Sterling. Rice & Kabob specializes in authentic Afghan cuisine of various kabobs, stews, appetizers and desserts. The restaurant is located at 47100 Community Plaza, Suite 114, Sterling.

TUCON Construction Corporation of Dulles has hired Chuck Guntner to be the vice president of project management in charge of base building construction. Scott Williams will continue to oversee all tenant/services construction as vice president of project management. In addition, TUCON announced the following new hires: Dave Foley, senior project manager; Pete Courtemanche, director of safety; Eric Amacher, project manager; Mike Allwine, superintendent; and Mike Martin, superintendent.

The Loudoun County Purchasing Staff is hosting two Buyer/Seller Information Exchange Sessions. The sessions will take place May 16 at 10 a.m. and July 17 at 3 p.m. at the Lovettsville Room on the first floor of the County Government Center, 1 Harrison Street, S.E., in Leesburg. The purpose of these sessions is to give area businesses the opportunity to meet the county's Purchasing staff and become familiar with the county's procurement process. These informal sessions will be open to all vendors to discuss the county's processes, upcoming contracts and any vendor questions or concerns. The Loudoun County government awarded a five-year IT contract to ARGroup, a full-service information technology consulting firm. The contract, effective Feb. 19, allows ARGroup to handle the "soup-to-nuts" computer installation service for all metro Washington government agencies. Eugene Troxell, Director of Information Technology for Loudoun County, anticipated that 500 new and replacement personal computers will be installed annually. ARGroup will set-up these agencies: social services, public safety, libraries, courts, public development, planning and finance.

The Lansdowne Resort in Leesburg recently received AAA's Four Diamond Award. The announcement was made at the annual Four Diamond Luncheon at the Hay-Adams Hotel in Washington, D.C. The highly coveted Four Diamond award is granted to only the top three percent of hotels and top four percent of restaurants that AAA inspects each year.

The Peterson Companies of Fairfax has listed its 158 acre tract east of Leesburg with Vaaler Real Estate Company for $27.5 million. The property is known as Leesburg Commons. Vaaler Real Estate Company is the largest full-service commercial real estate company based in Loudoun County.
