A forum for the candidates for the area’s four major political races was held at Crestwood Elementary School.
FOR ONE NIGHT, Crestwood Elementary School was able to call itself the political epicenter of the commonwealth. The school was host to a political forum Tuesday, Sept. 15, offering the candidates for the 39th district, state attorney general, lieutenant governor and governor races a chance to connect with their constituency. Robinson Grad Traffic Fatality
University student William Cameron Schlifke dies in three-car crash.
WILLIAM CAMERON Schlifke, born in Fairfax and a graduate of Robinson Secondary School, died Monday, Nov. 24, less than three days after his Volkswagon Jetta was rear-ended in Newport News, Va. According to a Newport News Police release, on Saturday, Nov. 22, at approximately 2 a.m., Schlifke was parked at a stoplight near Christopher Newport University when a 2006 Acura slammed into the back of his car, causing it in turn to crash into the Ford Mustang directly ahead. Springfield resident Laura Johnston is riding her bike from New York City to Washington, D.C., as part of the Climate Ride.
SOMETIMES, f you need to get something done, you just have to do it yourself. That is the approach Laura Johnston is taking in her quest to raise awareness about the dangers of climate change. Johnston, a Springfield resident and graduate student at Georgetown University, entered in the second annual Brita Climate Ride, a fund-raising bicycle ride that begins in New York City and ends in Washington, D.C.
