The Alexandria Sportsman’s Club kicked off the fall 2024 sports season with its annual High School Football night Sept. 18 at the Old Dominion Boat Club.
A roundtable with the varsity head coaches from each of the city’s high schools shared team insights and expectations, provided the inside scoop, and answered questions on all things Alexandria football.
ASC president Ryan Fannon moderated the roundtable, which included Rodney Hughey of Alexandria City High School, Bernard Joseph of Bishop Ireton High School, Kadeem Rodgers of Episcopal High School, and Vashon Winton of St. Stephen's & St. Agnes School.
In addition to the roundtable, the organization honored eight student athletes with Athlete of the Month recognition. Each was presented a plaque as part of the ceremony.
Honored as September Athletes of the Month were: Alpha Jalloh, Football, Alexandria City High School; Claire Hanley, Girls Tennis, St. Stephen's & St. Agnes School; Lawson Marshall, football, Episcopal High School; Lydia Navitsky, Girls Cross Country, Episcopal High School; Lelah Forbes, Field Hockey, Alexandria City High School; Kaz Penkiunas, Football, St. Stephen's & St. Agnes School; Drew Madden, Boys Soccer, Bishop Ireton High School; and Kate Hare, Field Hockey, Bishop Ireton High School.
