Vienna Police Highlights Feb. 26, 2021 – March 4, 2021

The following summary contains various incidents of general interest as well as vehicular crashes handled by the Town of Vienna Police Department from Feb. 26, 2021 – March 4, 2021.

INCIDENTS

Lost Property -- 300 Block East Street,

Between Feb. 29, 2020 at 7 a.m. and Feb. 25, 2021 at 11:51 a.m. A resident reported that she lost her Rolex watch.

Fraud -- Trust Bank

515 Maple Avenue, East

Dec. 17 between 2:56 p.m. and 3:59 p.m.

An employee reported fraudulent checks that were deposited at the bank.

Petit Larceny-- 200 Block Cedar Lane, SE

Feb. 16, 12 p.m.

A resident reported that an Amazon delivery was stolen.

Fraud -- 900 Block Country Club Drive, NE

Feb. 23, 3 p.m.

A resident reported that someone is fraudulently using his personal information to attempt to file for unemployment benefits.

Lost Property-- BB&T Bank

440 Maple Avenue, East

Feb. 23, 4:15 p.m.

A citizen reported that he lost his driver’s license at the bank.

Animal Case – Quarantine -- 400 Block Victoria Court, NW

Feb. 26, 12 p.m.

The Health Department reported that a citizen was bitten by his friend’s dog while visiting their home. The dog has been placed on a 10-day quarantine.

Vehicle Tampering -- 400 Block Echols Street, SE

Between Feb. 27 at 8 p.m. and Feb. 28 at 9:30 a.m.

A resident reported that someone rummaged through his two unlocked vehicles. Nothing appears to have been taken.

Animal Case – Quarantine -- Hope Advanced Veterinary Center

140 Park Street, SE, Feb. 28, 12 p.m.

The Health Department reported that an employee was bitten by a cat during a procedure. The cat is being held under the 10-day quarantine at the Veterinary Center.

Arrest – Warrant Service -- 7-11

427 Maple Avenue, East

Feb. 28, 11:28 p.m.

An employee reported a suspicious person outside of the store. Upon the officers’ interaction with the woman, they determined she had an active warrant in Alexandria. MPO Borja arrested the 54-year-old woman from Campbell Drive in Fairfax. She was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where the warrant was served charging Failure To Appear on Trespassing and she was held without bond.

Juvenile Case -- Kingsley Road, SW

March 1, 5:30 p.m.

A resident requested assistance with their juvenile son who was upset and had destroyed some property in the home. Officers were able to assist in speaking to the juvenile and calming him.

Animal Case – Quarantine-- 300 Block Lawyers Road, NW

March 1, 8:00 p.m.

A resident reported that his dog got into a fight with a raccoon and that the raccoon ran off. The dog suffered scratches and abrasions on his head and was treated by his vet. The dog was placed on a 45-day quarantine.

Suspicious Person 7-11

537 Maple Avenue, West

March 1, 8:31 p.m.

An employee reported that a man got out of his vehicle, urinated in the parking lot, and was stumbling into the store. When officers arrived the man was exiting the store and going back to his vehicle. The man agreed that he was in no condition to drive and family members responded to the store to transport him home.

Suspicious Event -- 200 Block Cedar Lane, SE

March 2, 2:03 p.m.

Officers responded to check on the welfare of a resident who made concerning statements to an employee with the Social Security Department. The resident reported that she was upset with the situation when she made the statements and did not need any further assistance or services.

Burglary -- 100 Block Casmar Street, SE

Between March 2 at 5 p.m. and March 3 at 12 p.m.

A resident reported that someone forced entry into the vacant home that they are renovating and took an air conditioning unit and furnace.

Unlawful Entry -- 200 Block Cedar Lane, SE

March 2, 8:55 p.m.

Officers responded to a dispute between a resident and his ex-girlfriend. The woman came to the apartment to discuss a civil matter. When the resident refused to speak to her she began trying to enter his room through the window, as the resident was struggling to close the window. The window screen was damaged during the altercation. The resident did not wish to pursue charges but requested the woman be trespassed from the apartment. The woman was advised that she may be charged with trespass if she returns.

Domestic Dispute -- Locust Street, SE

March 3, 7:58 p.m.

Officers responded to a verbal dispute between a resident and her adult daughter.

Animal Case -- 100 Block Kingsley Road, SW

March 3, 9 p.m.

A resident reported a sick raccoon on his front porch. ACO Barker found the animal was in grave condition and euthanized the raccoon.

Arrest – Warrant Service -- Cameo Coins & Collectibles

444 Maple Avenue, East

March 4, 8:29 a.m.

Officers responded to the report of a suspicious person in the area of the coin shop. Upon the officers’ interaction with the man, they determined there was an active warrant for him in Prince Georges County, Md. charging Failure to Appear on Assault. MPO Lyons arrested the 44-year-old man who had no fixed address. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was charged as a Fugitive from Justice and released by the magistrate on a $2000 unsecured bond.

CRASHES

300 Block Ayr Hill Avenue, NE -- Feb. 25, 1:05 p.m.

Vehicle-2 was legally parked on eastbound Ayr Hill Avenue, NE. Vehicle-1 was traveling eastbound on Ayr Hill Avenue when the passenger-side mirror struck the driver-side mirror of Vehicle-2. Driver-1 was issued a summons charging Failure to Pay Full Time and Attention.

Church Street and Lawyers Road, NW -- Feb. 25, 5:40 p.m.

Vehicle-2 was in the right turn lane on eastbound Church Street, turning right onto southbound Lawyers Road. Vehicle-1 ran into the rear of Vehicle-2.

500 Block Ayr Hill Avenue, NE -- March 4, 3:07 p.m.

Vehicle-2 was legally parked on the roadway. Vehicle-1 struck Vehicle 2 and the driver fled the scene without providing their information.

500 Block Maple Avenue, West -- March 4, 5:44 p.m.

Vehicle-2 was traveling westbound on Maple Avenue. Vehicle-1 was entering the roadway from a parking lot when it struck Vehicle-2. Driver-1 was issued a summons charging Failure to Pay Full Time and Attention.
