Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances that led to the discovery of a body last week in North Hill Park. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has yet to positively identify the body or confirm the cause and manner of death, which could take at least a month, according to police. Detectives are investigating this as a homicide.
The body was discovered in the morning of Thursday, May 23 in a wooded area in North Hill Park in the Hybla Valley area. Detectives from the fairfax County police Department Gang Intelligence Unit and Major Crimes Bureau developed information that led to the discovery of what appeared to be freshly disturbed soil. Crime Scene detectives worked to process the scene, which eventually led to the discovery of a body in a grave.
The police believe this to be an isolated incident. Preliminarily, indications are this could be gang-related, according to police.
