More than 200 individuals attended Northern Virginia Conservation Trust’s (NVCT) event at the Key Bridge Marriott in Arlington to celebrate “25 Years of Saving Nearby Nature” in Northern Virginia. Guests included elected officials, local landowners, conservation leaders, event sponsors and other key stakeholders. Christian Dorsey, chairman of the Arlington County Board, kicked off the speaking portion of the luncheon by giving a presentation about the impact of Amazon’s arrival in the region. That presentation led into a panel and Q&A with Andrew VanHorn of JBG SMITH, Matt de Ferranti of the Arlington County Board, and Dorsey. The panelists shared their expertise and views on the balance that must be found between open space and land conservation and the new development and infrastructure necessary to attract businesses.
