I first moved to Virginia in 2005 to attend Virginia Tech. In 2007, while still a student, I became heavily involved with the Barack Obama presidential campaign and with Virginia Democrats. I have been involved with Virginia DemocratIc organizations since then and have worked tirelessly over the past 12 years to elect Democrats to city, state and federal offices.
The actions of Governor Northam, Lieutenant Governor Fairfax and Attorney General Herring are inexcusable and, moreover, do not reflect the morals and values of the Virginia Democratic Party. Governor Northam, Lieutenant Governor Fairfax and Attorney General Herring, along with the new racist accusations of Senate Majority Leader Tommy Norment, are not what the people of the Commonwealth voted for. All four men must resign. I am hoping Sen. Adam Ebbin and Del. Mark Levine agree.
Virginians deserve leaders that move us past our racist past and uphold the inclusive and diverse values of the Commonwealth.
