Quintessentially Potomac

There are a few places in Potomac where residents gather to meet, eat, learn and exercise; some could be called “Quintessentially Potomac.” Though examples abound, such as Sprinkles for ice cream treats, dog walking along the C&O Canal, water sports on the Potomac River, watching the new elementary school going up or trailing groups of bicyclists along River Road or MacArthur Boulevard, the Almanac pictured four that many Potomac residents can identify with.

Carol Dietzel, a member of Potomac Garden Club, plants herbs in a newly established herb garden in front of the Potomac Library. The garden is a joint venture between the garden club and Friends of the Library Potomac Chapter. For information on Joining either group, inquire at the library information desk.

Jamie Maxwell enjoys a leisurely morning with coffee and the newspaper in the outdoor seating court outside of Starbucks. Residents are welcome to meet friends, sip coffee or other drinks and eat from one of the five eating establishments in the shopping center on the southeast corner of River and Falls roads.

Andy Goldstein, general manager of Potomac Pizza, shows off one of the restaurant’s famous offerings, this time a half cheese, half Hawaiian pizza. Potomac Pizza is billed as a family restaurant; a visit shows patrons of all age groups. They have a full menu of lunch and dinner items in addition to pizza.
