Oakcrest School’s Cross Country teams are finishing up this fall season with multiple victories. Both the Varsity and Middle School teams have claimed wins in key meets.
Oakcrest’s Varsity Cross Country team won its midseason meet on Oct. 3 at Sandy Spring Friends School. Oakcrest placed first with 30 points, with Emma Myers (’20) and Hannah Lu (’21) taking away second and third place respectively. Varsity also won its Oct. 16 PVAC meet at St. Anselm’s Abbey School. After a hard-fought battle, the team pulled away to beat Washington International School for first place with 34 points. Hannah Lu (’21) placed second and set a personal record, while Emma Myers (’20) took third and made a season best time. Many other varsity team members also set personal or season best records at that meet. On Oct. 23, sixth grader Vivian Kelly finished fourth at the PVAC Middle School Cross Country Championship meet, leading the entire Oakcrest Middle School team to a fifth-place finish.
Oakcrest Cross Country Coach Elizabeth Long was pleased with the results. “The girls did so well!” she says. “I really enjoyed coaching them this season. They worked so hard. Go Chargers!”
