Flags snapped in opposite directions in the Town of Herndon early Saturday morning, March 3, as an intense offshore low-pressure system, Winter Storm Riley, pummeled the region with sustained high wind gusts. Regional cleanup efforts are underway as residents and crews remove fallen trees and debris. Dozens of streets were closed by fallen trees, and tens of thousands were without power. On Tuesday morning, March 4, Dominion Energy reported 2,719 customers were still without power.
