More than 600 people volunteered for the Fairfax Parks cleanup event on April 7.

Final totals for parks that held the workday on April 7:

  • Over 1,500 hours of volunteer service (1,577 hours exact)

  • Estimated 5.1 tons of trash removed

  • Over 35 miles of stream and shoreline cleaned

  • Over 25 staff leaders from Fairfax County Park Authority and The Nature Conservancy

  • Plastic pink flamingo

  • 1950’s oven

  • Hot water heater

  • Tires, over 30 collected across the parks

  • Broken toilet

  • Car muffler

  • Siding

  • Fender

  • Mongoose bike
