Cherry Run Elementary students and teachers were recognized for creating a video history of Burke.
Burke — Cherry Run Elementary sixth graders Alex Balough, Ember Batrla, Matthew Lee, Ariel Russell and Sarah Voelkel represented Cherry Run at the 13th Annual Fairfax County History Conference on Saturday, Nov. 11.
The students took part in a whole class project during their fourth grade year creating a video history of Burke. Fourth grade teachers Mary Ellen Zavaleta and Melanie Manikas were presented with a plaque and a copy of the Congressional Record documenting their “Distinguished Service Award” presented by U.S. Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-11) and County Board Chairman Sharon Bulova.
