On Friday, March 6, state Sen. Dick Saslaw (D-35), Fairfax County Supervisor Penny Gross (D-Mason District) and Fairfax County School Board Vice Chairman Jane Strauss, gathered to celebrate Verizon’s sustained commitment to STEM education in Northern Virginia. Verizon presented a $5,000 check to the STEM All Stars at Thomas Jefferson High School Verizon’s App Challenge winners. Mario Acosta-Velez, Verizon’s Director of State Government Affairs said, “We are proud to support STEM All Stars at Thomas Jefferson High School and congratulate the students for achieving Best in State excellence in mobile app development. The students’ accomplishment shows how our Verizon Innovative Learning programs and support for STEM education are motivating VA students to build STEM skills and become future creators.”
