The City of Alexandria has begun installing new retail wayfinding signage in Old Town along the King Street corridor, to help pedestrians find businesses on nearby streets. The new Retail Wayfinding Signage Program was developed by the Ad Hoc Signage Committee to standardize signage policies. The new design uses individual panels for each business, allowing signs to be updated whenever businesses change. Businesses will pay an annual fee to participate in the signage program, which will be administered by city staff and governed by the 2010 Wayfinding Design Guidelines. All current A-frame signs along King Street will be removed by June 9.
