I see that a political party has trespassed on my property and planted a flag, as if to lay claim to the neighborhood, yet placing flags in other people's yards is just plain wrong.
Here are a few facts as to why it is wrong:
When you purchased the flag you also accept responsibility for that flag.
1) Making sure it is not desecrated, for example, by dog pee splashing on the flag as they mark the mailbox post yet again.
2) Properly display, as in illuminate when it is night.
3) Correctly disposing, which is not throwing it in the trash.
All of these things - and more - are explained in the Federal Flag Code.
Please see: https://www.senate.gov/reference/resources/pdf/RL30243.pdf
It would be very considerate of those who planted the flags, to take care of properly disposing of them, possibly by arranging a collection point in each neighborhood, and a postcard to each household telling them where the collection point is.
