— On Saturday, Oct. 30 members of Cub Scout Pack 665 turned out in force to support an environmental stewardship service project at Churchill Road Elementary School in McLean. The Scouts helped Don Hutzel, Churchill Road Principal, tackle some grounds keeping tasks and fall clean up on the school grounds. More than 15 families across all Pack 665 Dens lent their labor to the service project. Eighth graders and Scouts and their families helped weed flower beds, rake leaves, tackle the mountain of mulch by moving it from the lot to the beds, and making the labyrinth beautiful again.

Churchill Road alumni Daniel Lian and Oscar Tidd, now eighth graders at Longfellow Middle School, also helped with environmental stewardship activities. Along with parents K.J. Lian and Sarah Collett (who is also the chair of the PTA Fix It Committee), the students were able to make lots of progress cleaning the beds near the playground.
